A few weeks ago, I asked you what you wanted out of life. You said: I want to BELONG. I want to make a difference. I want joy. I want peace.
But when I asked – why don’t we have these things already? We said we didn’t know how to get them. Our paths weren’t clear, we insisted. We didn’t know what to do next. We didn’t know how to find our calling. We were a little lost.
Last week I sat in church thinking about the gap between what we know we want and what we actually have, and how to bridge that gap. As I was thinking, I was singing along in my hymn book, and my eyes fell upon the word compassion. I love the word compassion. I tell my children that when they feel the familiar ache of compassion in their hearts- they are to assume that God is saying, “HELP! One of my children needs you. Do something!” I ask my children to ACT when they feel compassion. I explain that compassion is NOT your heart’s pain in my heart. That’s pity. Compassion is YOUR HEART’S PAIN INTO MY HEART AND THEN OUT THROUGH MY HANDS. Real compassion demands action.
And then I noticed something special. Look at the first part of the word compassion.
Compass.
We all wonder – what should I do next? Where do I turn? What step do I take? How do I find what I need?
What if the voice of compassion IS OUR INTERNAL COMPASS? What if all we have to do to get what we need down here is run towards the very things and people and places that break our hearts? And when we get there…what if all we have to do is reach out our arms, open our hands and hold space?
I need you to RUN TOWARDS FOUR PRECIOUS FAMILIES TODAY, FRIENDS. I need you to read their stories and look at their pictures. And while you do, please pay close attention to your own body. Please notice how you feel. If you feel that familiar tug of compassion, let it be your compass. Let it be the voice that says- TRY IT. GIVE THIS FAMILY WHAT THEY NEED, AND THEN SEE IF THAT OFFERING RETURNS TO YOU WHAT YOU NEED. Jump in, get involved. See, if just for today, offering a stranger radical love provides you with the senses of peace, belonging, joy, and empowerment you’re searching for. Let compassion be your compass today.
LOVE FLASH MOB RULES:
- We can’t do great things. We can only do small things with great love. And so NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO DONATE MORE THAN $25. EVERY DONATION MATTERS.
- Because Monkee See- Monkee Do is finally an official 501(c)3, every penny of your donation is tax deductible.
- Any money we collect beyond what these families need will go to Monkee See – Monkee Do as we continue to meet the needs of families throughout the year. Every recipient of your generosity is thoroughly vetted by our board. Because the members of your Monkee See- Monkee Do Board work for free – WE HAVE NO OVERHEAD. EVERY PENNY YOU DONATE GOES DIRECTLY TO FAMILIES IN NEED.
Okay. TODAY, MONKEES- WE PROVIDE GUARDIAN ANGELS FOR A FEW PRECIOUS LITTLE ONES.
Friends, Meet Macey. Macey is four years old.
This is her story, in her mama’s words.
“Just under a year ago, our little girl, Macey, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). T1D is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin – a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. T1D causes lifelong dependence on injected or pumped insulin and carries constant threat of complications. T1D cannot be prevented and there is no cure.
After Macey’s diagnosis, we came home to fill our “Diabetes Station” with diabetes friendly food, log books, calculators, scales, glucometers, test strips, lancets, lancing devices, ketone strips, syringes and 2 types of insulin. With four other children in our family, it’s been tough to maintain Macey’s unrelenting cycle of strict meal and snack times, carbohydrate counting, blood sugar level testing and insulin injections, But we do it, because it’s the only way to keep Macey alive. Macey is hypoglycemic unaware which means she doesn’t feel when her blood sugar is dangerously low. Because of her sensitivity, we check her blood sugar up to three times throughout the night.”
Three times a night. Every night, forever. And constant fear- night AND day- that Macey’s level will plummet and they won’t catch it. Imagine that.
Macey needs and deserves her own guardian angel on this Earth. Her whole family does. And guess what? GUARDIAN ANGELS FOR FAMILIES LIKE MACEY’S EXIST. AND THEY HAVE FOUR PAWS AND FUR.
Macey’s family needs an ALERT DOG. Alert dogs are Guardian Angels for diabetic children. They are trained to smell the chemical changes taking place in the little ones’ bodies and alert adults when their blood sugars go too high or too low. These dogs are lifesaving to these children, and life giving to the families. They provide everyone with security and freedom. They come at a high cost, though. A cost that these families already struggling with sky-high medical bills can’t pay on their own. Luckily, they have a community that loves them. We are their community.
Monkees, Meet Piper.
Baby Girl has diabetes like just sweet Macey. She also has a FIERCE single mama named Tegan who has been pounding the pavement to raise enough money for a Guardian Angel for Piper. Mama Tegan has raised enough to put a deposit down on RAVEN, an alert dog being trained just for Piper. (THAT”S RAVEN IN THE FIRST PICTURE! SISTER PIPER, YOUR DOG IS BEAUTIFUL!) She just needs the rest of the funds so she can bring Raven home to Piper. Tegan told us this:
“Piper can only be left in the care of a few people who understand diabetes. She wants to go play at new friends’ houses, but the thought of sending her off with someone who doesn’t completely “get” diabetes terrifies me. Once she has Raven I will be able to send her feeling a little better about her safety because she will have her guardian by her side.
Until there is a cure for type 1 diabetes at least there is a D.A.D. (diabetic alert dog) to not only lessen the constant fear, provide a greater quality of life and more independence for Piper and me; but also give her a constant companion, a source of security and a way for her to feel special while facing this disease head on. Finding out you have a child with type 1 is terrifying and life changing, but I am determined to do everything I can to allow her to be a kid for as long as possible.”
Monkees, Meet Finn.
I know. I asked his mom if I could eat him but she said no. I still like her, though.
She told us this about her Finn:
“Finn is wonderful. He sees the world in a way most of us can’t. He enjoys the simple pleasures, like swinging, reading books, and eating pizza. He loves to laugh and he brings so much to the people he comes across, mostly without them realizing it until later
Finn also has a tendency to take off, and he is FAST! Due to his communication issues, he will not come back when we call his name, nor will he say anything when we call out “where are you?” On 2 occasions, we have lost him completely, here in our neighborhood. Any parent knows how awful THAT feeling is…..that sinking “thump” you feel in your belly when you realize he is not standing/playing by you anymore, and you have no idea how long he has been gone. It’s terrifying. This is just one reason that a helper dog would benefit Finn, and all of us. Adam and I can never totally let our guard down.”
And finally, meet our little Gio.
His aunt wrote in to tell us this:
My nephew Giovanni was diagnosed with autism at the age of 2. Due to my sister’s health issues and Giovanni’s condition – they struggle. A service dog would change their lives. Both Myrna and Gio stay indoors most of the time because Gio wanders off and gets into dangerous situations. A service dog would assist in keeping Gio safe, provide him with a friend. A service dog would represent peace of mind for our whole family.
Okay. Let’s do this. Let’s FOLLOW OUR COMPASSION COMPASS and set the world on fire today. Click the “Give” button below and make your donation. Share the living hell out of this post. Post it on Facebook. Tweet it, Print it out and pass it around your office. Email it to your big-hearted friends. Call your mom and tell her all about it. If she’s anything like my mom, you will have to donate FOR her and have her send you a check, since she’s still not quite sure what this “interweb is all about.” Whatever it takes –be creative. Allow us to call these mamas tonight and tell them that their babies’ Guardian Angels are on their way home.
Just click on the image below to make your donation. Ready, Set, GO!!! (**UPDATE! THANK YOU!!!! We reached our goal for Macey, Piper, Finn and Gio in 6 HOURS and their doggies are coming HOME! If you would like to give to the general fund for Monkee See – Monkee Do and help reach more children and families, please click the button below.)

I have donated to other mobs before but we are kind of tight with cash right now so I wasn’t planning to donate. When I saw it on facebook, I thought, it couldn’t hurt just reading about it…$25 later…Praying that you are wildly successful today. I couldn’t not reach out to help those babies as I sent a prayer of thanks to God for my healthy kiddos.
I love being a part of this Love Flash Mob. I just donated and it definitely felt RIGHT. Can’t wait to see the results of so much love and compassion in the world. Go Monkees!
Donated in memory of Three Goldie
Please let’s give Tegan back her deposit!!!
My heart is overwhelmed with love for her.
That felt….right. Thanks for helping me get my compass sitcheeated correctly!
For the last 3 years I have called Type I Diabetes our “Fourth Child” due to the time, money and emotion we have invested into insuring my 8 year old daughter can lead a long and healthy life. As the mom of a diabetic, you live your life with a lump of fear in your throat. When your child sleeps in a few minutes in the morning you say a prayer as you open their door to check on them. Until you have felt this fear, you can not completely appreciate the gift you are giving these families. I am sure they are in total awe of this LFM!
I skipped the coffee this morning and donated that $5 instead!
As a mom of a special needs kiddo I know how scary the outside world can be- not everyone understands how to care for and treat your child, it can be hard to trust strangers with your precious child. How amazing for these families to have a new furry friend for their child that can help ease that anxiety and make life a little easier.
I donated today for my son, who has Dwarfism, and who faces a world that isn’t always “fit” for him but goes out into the world each morning with a smile. He is brave, and compassionate, and funny, and I am a better person for being his mom- despite, and partly because of the struggles we face.
LOVE can do BIG things!!
Donated in honor of my sweet chocolate lab “Lacy” who passed away in July at the age of 15. LOVE WINS!
Donated! Cannot wait to see those babies get their guardian angels. So proud to be a part of this wonderful project.
Is anyone else having trouble donating online?
I had to use the link to pay w/credit card. It wouldn’t allow me to donate logged into my account.
No, I had no problem using PayPal. Maybe they are just slammed right now from so many people donating?
praying this is the problem!:)
Just donated using paypal; no problems!
I did with my first try, but the second time worked.
Glennon, I don’t know if you want to make a point of telling people this or not, but they can pay with a card and *not* sign up for PayPal, even though it almost looks as if you have to.
No, I just did and it went through fine.
There’s a conflict between my husband’s paypal account and mine.
No, but one of my comments (a reply to someone else) has disappeared.
I’m going to need a PayPal invoice so I can donate. They can’t seem to figure out how to let me donate online.
Melodie, can you tell us more about this problem?
Can you use a credit card? I pay that way and don’t actually have to join PayPal; they just make it look like you do.
My conflict is that I don’t really have an account but my husband does and we share the same debit card number. So they won’t let me do the transaction because my debit card number is on file for my husband’s account and I don’t know his password.
I will try again when my husband gets home.
As a mother of a T1D son, diagnosed at the age of 3, also hypo-unaware, I am blessed to have insurance that covers a Continuous Glucose Monitoring device for him, and even more blessed to be able to help these wonderful families in need. I only wish I could donate more than the $25.
I am so happy for you!! Our insurance considers that an “experimental” treatment, which means “we don’t want to pay for it.” Can I ask if you had to jump through hoops to get that, and what they were? My husband currently has to test about ten times a day.
Glennon, three years ago today we lost our beloved Golden Retriever (Amber) to cancer. I trained her as a puppy to be a service dog through Canine Companions for Independence. Although she wound up not really fitting the part for that job, she was an amazing dog who blessed my life and so many others. I still miss her terribly. It is not coincidental timing that you highlighted the need for service dogs for these amazing children on the anniversary of her death. I hope you don’t mind but I broke your “no donation over $25” rule. 🙂
Being a mama of four beautiful boys I could never imagine the fear these loved ones go through. I’ve donated for the first time because nearly two years after making huge life changes I can. It feels good.
Not attempting to take away from the greatness of this love flash mob but I’m asking for prayers for a friend. My friend Jessica is dealing with incredible grief. Preparing to take 8 week old Braelyn, her daughter, off of life support. Jessica left baby Braelyn for the very first time since her birth in the hands of her father, Jessica’s partner. Jessica is dealing with grief on so many levels. The injuries to her daughter, losing her daughter, and losing her life as she knew it. The man she loved behind bars, giving poor excuses as to what happened to Braelyn, denying it happened at his hands.
Jessica is only 24, and no one is perfect. But she was trying to put the pieces of her life together and loving on Braelyn with every once of her being. She has no where to call home now as she hasn’t left her daughters side in the hospital. She has no means to bury her tiny beautiful baby and so many unanswered questions, so much anger, self blame.
Please, please keep this young Mama and her baby in your thoughts and prayers.
I am so, so sorry. How awful and heartbreaking.
Sending prayers for Jessica and Braelyn! There is enough love and time for MSMD and your sweet friend and her precious baby.
Done.
Jodie, I am so very sorry. Prayers being said already. I don’t know how fast Monkee See Monkee Do can act, but you might want to contact them regarding the burial needs. http://monkeeseemonkeedo.org
Thank you. I have sent an email to MSMD, not sure there is much they can do in such little time. But considering it took less than 5 minutes to do, how could I not?
My heart is just so broken for Jessica. The prayers are so appreciated.
sending love to Jessica!
Thank you all! xoxo
My name is Leslie and I have been blessed by all of you! At the beginning of the summer I needed help getting my 2 teenagers some summer clothes. They had outgrown the ones they had and I barely get by on paycheck to paycheck. The monkees blessed me with $500 in gift cards so that I could get the things my kids needed. You guys are great!! We can do BIG things!
Amazing! You never fail to inspire me, G. Together we can move mountains!
As an autism momma myself, I can only imagine what a guardian angel puppy could do for a family on the spectrum! AWESOME cause! Sent my 25 bucks and SHARED! Thank you, Monkees!!!!!!!
This is the BEST. BIRTHDAY. PRESENT. EVA!
I finally got to participate in a LFM! I’m a Love Flash Mobster! Wooooo!
From one autism Mama to another: Hang in there. Life with our special Littles is a burden, but it is so beautiful. Gio’s smile is breathtaking! His future furry friend is so lucky 🙂
Happy Birthday, Sharyn!!
Happy birthday to you! 🙂
And the other part of that word is PASSION! One of my favorite words and one we JUST discussed at church on Sunday. You have set that compass on what you are passionate about!
My niece, who is ten, and who my parents and I have been raising since birth, was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes three years ago. It was a mind boggling diagnosis and that day will forever be burned into my brain, I was the one who took her in when she got diagnosed. Fortunately for her, she is very sensitive and can feel her lows and highs. I can not imagine how much more difficult this would be if she couldn’t. She is a warrior and she is my hero. I donate for her and this amazing little angels you have flash mobbed!!!
I just sent my THREE healthy kids off to school without a thought of who got what in their lunchbox… hugging my babies a little tighter this morning & donating in honor of my best friend, my lobster, who has lived with Type 1 her whole life. Thank you MSMD for calling our hearts into action once again! Love wins.
Heather m, your post made me smile. Thanks.
What a great cause…happy to be involved!!!
I too have a daughter with T1D as well as 4 more daughters. My daughter was diagnosed last year at the age of 7. We about lost her last week. Call it mother’s intuition, but I had her sleep with me, something she hadn’t done in a long time. She moved in the middle of the night and something made me check her blood sugar. She was low. She did sit up to eat something. Right after she ate a little, she became unresponsive and started having seizures. If she had been in her own room that night, I would not have my precious daughter today. While I can’t donate money (I would like to get my daughter her own service dog also but we don’t have the money), I can be praying for these precious children. I know how horrible and scary it is to have a child with T1D.
Tracy, I’m so sorry you had to go through that, but I thank God that she was with you. I was awakened one night by my husband hitting me – he was having a seizure. One night fairly early in our learning to live with this illness – long before I had the sleep problems I have now – I simply woke up in the middle of the night. My husband’s breathing didn’t sound right, and when I tried to wake him, I couldn’t. One of several calls made to 911 over the years. Thankfully, the paramedics have always been able to bring him around.
I hope that one day you will be able to get an alert dog for your daughter.
This is so wonderful!!! Although I can not give monetarily right now, as we are trying to raise $40K to bring “our” 3 aging out orphans home from Ukraine, I will share this and hold all these precious kiddos and their families in The Light.
“Real compassion demands action.”, no truer word have ever been spoken! I pray we will all listen to out hearts more. Only then will we understand what is truly important in this world! It is amazing how priorities change when we open our eyes and hearts to the plight of other. I no longer want “Happiness”, which is a fleeting emotion. I want joy! Giving voise to the voiceless bring real joy.
Blessings to you all!!!!
http://savedbystarfish.blogspot.com/
I, too have a son with Type 1 diabetes. I am unable to donate any money today, but I am able to donate an ear. If the mommy of a T1K (type 1 kid) would ever like to talk, or vent, I am available. We are a special tribe of Warriors, we eat, breath, and (don’t) sleep diabetes. You are not alone!
I LOVE THIS. THANK YOU, MISSY!!!!!!
My niece, who my parents and I have raised since birth (she is 10), was diagnosed three years ago as Type I. My mom is the one that has not slept in three years. You are a special group of warriors, there is NO doubt about that.
Monkee See Monkee Do is amazing! I wrote them a few months ago for help sending a sweet family to Disneyland after they decided to spend the Disney savings on their disabled sons new therapy instead. They totally came through and helped send the family off with an extra $500 to top what my church had raised. This organization is fantastic!!!!
Glennon… I’m crying barely into the first one and feeling more than a tug. My husband has Type 1 diabetes. It’s unusual for adults to be diagnosed with that rather than Type 2, but it has been 20 years this year. He wears an insulin pump and *he* has hypoglycemic unawareness. In his case it doesn’t mean he never, ever feels the low, but his blood sugar can get low so fast and without obvious provocation – e.g., too much exercise or too little food – that I can never, ever get complacent about it.
I don’t know if Macey can’t ever feel her blood sugar level going low, doesn’t recognize it for what it is, or can’t communicate it to an adult because it is already so low it has affected her cognitive process; it doesn’t matter. I have seen all of those things happen with my husband of 28 years, and they are all both scary and dangerous.
When Macey gets her dog, they won’t have to worry that she will lose her ability to to be coherent because of hypoglycemia. On one occasion, my husband cheerfully told my daughter and me that my brother had wrecked his [own] bike, but that he, my husband, had won the World Cup.
They won’t have to worry that as she gets older, she may know something is wrong, maybe even what it is, but won’t have the cognitive ability to deal with it. More times than I can count, I have found my husband in the kitchen because he knows he needs something, but he isn’t sure what or how to get it. Late one night I found him in the bathroom, standing there looking confused. I asked what he was doing and he said, “trying to get something to eat!”
I have a feeling that Macey’s parents my have already experienced the seizures and even lack of consciousness that hypoglycemic awareness can bring on, although I’m not sure if any diabetics can feel their blood sugar drop while asleep. They will not have to stop and think, “where is Macey?” and find her unconscious on her bed in the middle of the day.
When Macey has her dog, she won’t drop into semi-consciouness at school or with friends or – eventually – in a business meeting, so that someone has to call her family and say, “Macey isn’t acting right; do you know what’s wrong?”
With an Alert Dog, Macey will never have to experience losing consciousness behind the wheel of a car. Yes, it has happened once; it was a horrible nightmare, but incredibly, neither my husband nor anyone else was hurt. It was, however during the dead of night on one of the coldest nights of the year. If a couple of Good Samaritans hadn’t found him, he could have died from exposure.
I have told my daughter that if anything happens to her, the first thing she needs to do is get her dad an Alert Dog. (Why don’t we do it now? Cost and allergies. If something happens to me, though, he’ll have to figure out how to deal with the allergies.)
There are few causes nearer and dearer to my heart than this. Not yet having read the other comments yet, I’m sure there are those with similar tales to tell, but I hope not many.
Thanks to all of you: Glennon, the MSMD board, and all of the Monkees who I know will be giving with full hearts today. The idea of being able to keep even one little girl from going through what my husband has for twenty years is nearly a miracle. To be able to provide FOUR families with Alert Dogs, for whatever reasons, is something for which all of you can be very, very proud.
Again, I thank you.
Crying. Thank you, Meredith.
I’m also the single mother of a type 1 diabetic (T1D) daughter that needs an alert dog. I do not want to discourage Monkees from supporting these families but ask that you look at the research Denise Faustman is doing to cure T1D and then tell your friends about her work.
Dr. Faustman has cured T1D in mice and has been able to get people with T1D for more than 15 years to create insulin again. Now she is raising money for her second human trial to determine the dosage needed for a cure. Because Dr. Faustman uses an old and very inexpensive drug the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and drug companies will not fund her research since they stand to loose millions if not billions of dollars when a cure is found.
For those of you who give to JDRF, please send your tax delectable dollars to Dr. Faustman Lab at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. You may find the link on her website http://faustmanlab.org to get more information -and remember to spread the word of the Faustman Lab so she can run the next human trial and we can rid our children of the life threatening disease.
As a bonus Dr. Faustman believes that since T1D is an autoimmune disease, once T1D is cured she and others can work on other autoimmune diseases like MS and Lupus. But please read her web site for better information.
Thank you Monkees for highlighting the struggle of parents who struggle to keep their T1D kids alive!
Maryanne, are you on Facebook? If so, please p.m. me information about this. My profile pic is currently Kermit, or you could skim posts on the Momastery page and click on my name. Thank you.

I can’t wait to share that with my little monkee, 4 years old and heart of a warrior already. Sending love out to all the monkees this morning… can you feel it in the air? Yup, sure can. It’s LOVE Baby!!! 🙂
i love this. and I have a daughter named Piper, that’s when I jumped. but frankly ALL of them made my heart want to help. So I will. I don’t have time to do it right this second, but it will be TODAY.
xoxoxo
thank you for spreading and sharing love, Glennon. xoox
I CANNOT think of a better way to spend $25 – not at the mall, not on a month’s worth of Starbuck’s coffee, not on weekly lunch, not on a mani/pedicure, NOTHING! These kids are gonna get their dogs, I just know we CAN do this…..together! Thanks for the goosebumps I got for being a part of this wonderful love-fest! LOVE WINS!!
So happy to do this! I can’t wait to see the sweeties with their sweeties. xoxoxo!
Donated and shared! These Love Flash Mobs are just as much a blessing (IF NOT MORE OF ONE!) to those participating as to those it’s going to. Thank you Glennon for giving us an opportunity to be blessed. Love Wins. ALWAYS!
Oh, sweet G. I was having such a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day full of angst and self-pity. And then I came here and saw those baby faces and a doggie and a mama and I got to give money to make good things happen.
My sad, selfish tears are now happy (selfish?) tears and I feel so blessed.
“His Holiness the Dalai Lama describes two kinds of selfish people: the unwise and the wise. Unwise selfish people think only of themselves, and the result is confusion and pain. Wise selfish people know that the best thing they can do for themselves is to be there for others. As a result, they experience joy.” Pema Chodron.
Let us be wise selfish people!!!!
Glennon,
My step-son has T1D & was diagnosed at 4 years old. Although it is a manageable disability, it is true that a parent is never free from constant worry. Our step-son is now 20 and lives independently across the country from us, but I’d like to donate in honor & gratitude of both him and his daddy (who I think is the most loving, wonderful father I’ve ever known.) And please allow me to also donate the maximum for each child. My compass is telling me to do that. :)) Carry on!
Beautiful idea.
Love wins.always.
cute kids + cute dogs. well, even a miser like myself can’t resist that one.
Nicole, you’re funny! 🙂
My heart is exploding with love this morning Glennon! I can’t give a lot, because of my own overwhelming medical costs, including expensive medication I need every 6 hours and ultra expensive eye drops I need to do every hour I’m awake to keep from going blind. But you know what? I celebrated the 30th birthday I was never supposed to see by doing random acts of kindness and it changed me in ways I am still absorbing and realizing. I want to live a life of giving. Thank you for providing this chance to GIVE LOVE today.
Praise God you have exceeded expectations and are living a life full of bravery! How precious that you did that for your birthday! Prayers for your health precious lady!
Tahnie, you are so brave and so kind. God bless you!
Glennon, is there a way we can track the total throughout the day? Or do we need to sit tight and wait for you to post updates?
Donated and feel so giddy right now! I am so happy and honored to be such a teeny tiny part in such a HUGE love fest!
Donated my coffee money for the week, this is more important then coffee
My compass pointed me to Finn as I hold my sweet, sleeping Finley in my arms. Tears are streaming down my face! LOVE your definition of compassion! Love this! Love you! Thankful to be the hands and feet of Jesus alongside you wonderful ladies.
Brilliant cause – easy to help. Hope we can all come together and make this happen for these beautiful little ones 🙂 Wishing you all happiness 🙂
Donated and shared on Facebook. Glennon, I just want to say THANK YOU for doing such wonderful, amazing things for these sweet and precious kiddos and for letting us be a part of the story too.
Blessings to you on this very exciting day!! Squee!!

Donated!! Love these kids! But I wanted to share a link regarding a company in VA that is selling DADs that are inadequately trained. A friend of ours finally got one for his young son, and the dog is not trained, and the owners of the company aren’t able to be found. Here is a link to the FB page regarding this. I understand the HUGE need for these special dogs, I just don’t want anyone else to be out so much money, and they had so much hope for these dogs and for their kids. Love to all! xoxoxo

Here are our organizations, Amy!
Macey’s dog will come from Diabetic Alert Dogs of America
Piper’s dog will come from NIDAD – National Institute of Diabetic Alert Dogs Inc.
Finn’s dog and Gio’s dog will come from 4 Paws for Ability
so relieved to hear it! Thanks so much!! xoxo
Not to make light about a very serious subject, but I’m laughing because the first time I read your comment I thought what kind of company is selling inadequately trained fathers!? (DAD’s)
Oh my goodness! This is far and away my favorite Love Flash Mob yet. Four-legged love wins!
Glennon:
I forgot that it was not more than $25.00, however I thought it could be $25.00 for each child and gave accordingly. It was taken out of my PayPal account…was that alright or should I have given only $25.00 for all?
Thanks ,
Silvia
SWEET, PRECIOUS Silvia. On behalf of my friends Macey, Piper, Finn, and Gio ….I WILL ALLOW IT!!! I LOVE YOU, SILVIA!! THANK YOU!!!!

Can you provide the name of the organization that will be providing the dogs? I will forward on to all my friends once I know. Making a donation next….
Here you go, sweet Barb!
Macey’s dog will come from Diabetic Alert Dogs of America
Piper’s dog will come from NIDAD – National Institute of Diabetic Alert Dogs Inc.
Finn’s dog and Gio’s dog will come from 4 Paws for Ability
so relieved to hear of these companies. Friends of ours recently acquired (ie, spent thousands of dollars on) a DAD for their special boy, only to find out the dog was not trained correctly and cannot help them with alerts. The owners of the company have “disappeared”, and their special boy still cannot do the things he wants to do, for fear of low blood sugars. I’m so relieved these dogs are coming from someplace else. Thanks for your hard work Glennon and MSMD!! xoxoxoxo
Amy can u send me this place’s info so i can look into it and then spread the word?
Done! You are one cool chick, Glennon!
I could hardly wait to come here this morning. Dogs! Kids! Dogs + kids! I am so in…
Monkee Saw, Monkee Do -nated! God bless these mommas & their li’l monkeys!
Monkees. We’ve raised $23,132.01 in ONE HOUR. Our goal is $100,000 by tonight. CAN WE DO IT???
YES!
oh yes, my fellow warrior woman WE CAN!!!! no doubt in my mind!!!
100K is going to get blown away!
Yes!!
You know it!!!
Glennon,
Paypal is giving me issues because I’m Canadian (it’s asking me to input a province, but the pull-down menu only offers states, and it won’t let me leave the field blank).
Help?
North Carolina will adopt you, sister Ainsley! Input us and see if that helps 🙂
Hi Ring!
I’ve always felt a bit southern. 🙂
Unfortunately Paypal is smart and recognizes me for the Canuck I am – it seems to recognize that my credit card is Canadian.
Any other suggestions??
Thank you for doing this! I have had T1D since almost before I can remember and my heart aches for these mamas and little warriors. Every single second is spent thinking/worrying about sugars and complications.
Donated and shared. I think my compassion pours out of my eyes as well as swelling in my heart. It sure did while reading about these adorable, strong little warriors.
As of 3 min ago, per Facebook,
Monkees. We’ve raised $23,132.01 in ONE HOUR. Our goal is $100,000 by tonight. CAN WE DO IT???
You’d better believe it!
Incredible! So glad I can help, shared with the world!!!
donated & shared 🙂 love wins every time ♥ so thankful that these kids & their families will know they will have the security of a precious guardian angel before the day is over. I just know it!!!
Donated and shared. Love wins every time!!
I am so in. I think service dogs are INCREDIBLE and I think these kids and families are INCREDIBLE. Yep, I am IN.
Just donated. How are we doing, Glennon?
I love this so. It makes my heart throb with compassion for these precious angel baby nuggets. THANK YOU G for bringing this to us. Put it in our hands baby girl – we have got this. Love you so!!
My dad died 7 years ago after heart surgery. His surgery was a direct result of his diabetes. His grandson, that he loved more than life, turns 15 TODAY! What could be fitting! I donated and shared this on my FB status!
Thanks for making this happen! Let there peace on earth and let it begin with me! Indeed!! Carry on! Carry On Warriors!
Barb
These kids are just adorable and I am thrilled to help them get a service dog to give them some freedom and a best friend. Dogs are wonderful companions for kids.
I feel like this was meant for me to see!! I LOVE it!! I was watching Animal Police and some of their rescues became Guardian Angels!!! Wow wow wow wow!! Talk about my COMPASS leading the way!!! I wish I could have given more, but I gave half of what was in my account (the other half I have to make stretch until payday in 2 weeks). I wish I could give each of you Monkees the world. I hope all my love pouring out to each of you is enough. Thank you, G for letting us be apart of this amazing story!!
G, I wrote a blog post this week, about being aware of the words we say and write….about focusing on what matters and not on what doesn’t. Thank-you for always writing & inspiring us about what truly matters!! This is awesome!!

G,
Does sweet Finn have a diagnosis? He looks so much like my daughter, who has the same gifts and challenges.
In love with these kids:) thank you, G, for allowing us to be a part of this wonderful day:)
I am trying to donate….it won’t let me. Is there another way besides Paypal? Help!!!!!!
I had to log out and log back in.
can you tell us what’s happening when you try?
It finally worked!! Just took a couple of tries!!! Yahoo. Love…and perseverance WINS.
YES KIMBERLEY, THANK YOU!!!!!
Dogs? Dogs? Done!
Thrilled to be part of this love this morning. Thank you, Glennon, for giving us all this opportunity. I shared and shared and shared…such sweet babies. I just know we can do great things together for kids with cancer, too! Looking forward to working with you!
Done!! What a great LFM idea! I have a good friend who trains these dogs and it is incredible the sense of security, freedom and joy they bring into people’s lives. Go Monks!!
I am so grateful. What an amazing opportunity. Starting a Tuesday never felt better.
Oh my word I’m so excited. These families are singing my song – safety and independence for kids. That is actually arriving on my own doorstep in 20 minutes in the form of a super swanky hospital bed that my community bought for my son. So, yes, please, let me run with my gratitude and compassion straight at these families and say what all of us mamas exhausted from medical world need to hear – I see you and you are not alone.
Glennon – thank-you so much for this opportunity.
Thank you for helping us show our compassion. YOU are amazing!
My heart swells. Why does it feel like Christmas morning?!
I can’t believe this is what I opened my Facebook to today. Today as I was sitting here so sad thinking about my little angel who has just turned two and three months ago was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Three months and I am exhausted with the worry that goes with this disease. I know like only a T1 parent can what these mommies are going through. If I can do anything to ease this worry from another mom even for a second I will! Thank you for giving me a way to kick this disease in the a** this morning!
Sister Katrina. YOU LET US KNOW WHEN THAT LITTLE ANGEL NEEDS NEEDS A GUARDIAN ANGEL. We will be on it, mama. Carry On, Warrior.
We will be waiting! Sending love and hugs to Mama Katrina and her precious little one. <3 <3 <3
much love, Katrina!
Hugs and love coming your way, Katrina!
Hi everyone! I’m Crystal. I’m a mother to 4 lovely children. At the beginning of this school year, I had to move since my old landlord was not willing to extend my lease. Needless to say, moving is expensive and it was right on August 1st. Thank the good Lord above for you Monkees, because with your help… My kids were given $400 in Walmart gift cards for school clothes and supplies! The lights on the faces was amazing. I can’t ever think you Monkees enough! I wish I had the means to give for this Flash Mob today, but one day I will. I plan on returning the favor as well.
I wish I could thank each and every one of you for your kind open, and non-judgmental hearts. In the world we live in, it’s amazing to know there are wonderful, caring people in this world.
Go Monkees!!! Love you ALL!
Thanks so much,
Crystal, Heather, Summer, Kobe, Korey, and Samirah
much love, Crystal, Heather, Kobe, Korey ans Samirah! You are ALL Monkees 🙂
Kate is right, and you know what, Crystal? Telling your story is already part of paying it forward. Warrior on!
My brother is insulin dependent diabetic and it was so hard as kids for him to be “different.” I can imagine that having an alert dog would have not only made it safer for him but made him feel special and allowed him to embrace being different in a much easier happier way. He is 40 now and in good health. Cheers Monkees!!!
This is redeeming my day. I woke up this morning wondering what the flash mob would be about, and for whom, and excited to see the momentum happen today. Some of us might have other things in this day that might not be so great, but THIS is a happy, buoyant thought to lift us all today. Thank you, G!
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to help out just a little with these fantastic children. Hugs to all.
Great idea. I just made my donation while sitting with my mutt, Shelby. Everyone needs a Shelby.
Our sweet golden retriever, Shelby, died last Christmas and I am giving today in honor of her. Thanks Momastery for the opportunity to give to such an amazing cause!
Our golden retriever Shelby is at my feet as I type. You’re right … everyone needs a Shelby!
What a great great way to start my day! I love flash mob days!
What a bunch of CUTIES!!! Looking forward to seeing pictures with their service dogs. Thanks for giving us a chance to do something good today. LOVE!
Love these sweet T1 kiddos and their families (I love all of them, trust me!). My daughter and my nephew are both T1. It’s HARD, but we can do hard things, right? Thanks for giving them the recognition and support they need!
So excited to watch this today! What a wonderful thing to be a part of and to have the opportunity to make a difference in some very precious lives!! To be able to help these families with peace of mind and added support and comfort is amazing, but to also know we’re playing a part in the creation of a relationship of unconditional love and support between the precious child and life saving pup is just a gift to my heart!
Hi G,
Just donated, and the response said “Please review your recurring donation”, only I hadn’t made it a recurring donation. I think it was an error on the site, but thought you would want to know. I wouldn’t want to deter donations for anyone (like me) that would not be able to commit to a recurring donation.
Wonderful cause today! Thanks for all you do!
Thanks for asking about this, Meg! PayPal changed the wording on the donation screen to let people know that recurring donations are now possible. We have confirmed with them that no donations will be recurring unless people specifically request for them to be. We can’t change the wording on this template, and I am so sorry for the confusion. But…THANK YOU for giving! Isn’t this a fabulous day?!!
Thanks for the info, Amy! This is a SPECTACULAR day. 🙂
We just had to put our 13 1/2 year old golden/lab down a couple of weeks ago. She wasn’t a service dog but she served us with love every single day. We all miss her. I feel like her spirit is sort of at work here 🙂 Pets can be a true blessing to families. Thanks, Glennon!
Compassion is our compass! Love that!
Oh yes, this is what I needed to remember. Love!
Well I love children and I really love dogs. So this makes my heart sing!
OK, relax now G. You started the ball rolling and the Monkees will take it from here. Step away from the laptop, have a cup of decaf now with Sister and play peek a boo with that sweet baby. Take your dogs for a walk and breathe in some fresh air and feel the sun on your face. We got this.
The last two weeks we have had a negative balance in our bank accounts. Payday was yesterday and I am proud to be able to contribute just a small amount to help these kiddos out!
Thank you!!!
DONE!!! YAY! I know I’ll be checking back every 5 minutes to see what is happening.
Hey Glennon. I think you forgot to put up the goal amount that you’re trying to raise. You posted with the other love flash mobs how much the total cost would be to fund the entire project. Could you post how much you’re expecting it I cost to get a guardian angel for each of these sweet kids? Thanks!
I’m in love! So honored to donate and help these beautiful children get their loving, helpful companions!
Thank you, G, for giving us an opportunity to #payitforward !
Quick question — can we only give $25 total, or $25 per child for a total of $100?
I believe it is $25 total.
Thank you 🙂
Teresa, I know what the answer is – as stated – but I’m attempting to find a loophole. 😉
Yeah!! So happy to read this today! My daughter has autism and we’ve actually also thought about a service dog for her, I am so happy to help these four families get the help they need for their little ones!!
The first thing I did this morning (after pouring myself a cuppa coffee of course) was check Momastery. These children are precious and I am so very happy that I get to contribute in a small way to making their lives safer and more beautiful. THANK YOU for giving us this opportunity, Glennon!
I am so excited to be a part of this group of people who care and love and LIVE it out! Can’t wait to see what happens here today! 🙂
