I’m off to vacay with the family tomorrow. Since I work at home, I call our vacays “business trips.” Still, for two weeks I am going to soak the four of them in and LEAVE THE COMPUTER AT HOME.
I will miss you, but I promise to think and do many hilarious and ridiculous things and report them to you just as soon as I get back.
We shall make it through this summer together. Remember: everything in moderation; including family time.
Also, this just happened:
Tish: Oh my gosh mom, listen to this. This is amazing.
Tish: Mom, are you listening??
Me: Yes. Yes. Yes.
Tish: Mom: I was BORN on my birthday. THE SAME DAY. How WEIRD is that??
Perhaps an athletic scholarship for that one?
Love, Miss already, LYLAS.
GDo
P.S. I’ll leave comments open in case anyone needs to talk while I’m gone.
SO MUCH MONKEE NEWS WHEN I GET BACK!!! VIVA LA REVOLUTION!!!!

Hope you have a great vacation! You are an inspiration to me, even when you are on vacation!!!! Enjoy.
OMG a riot. Love your blog! So glad I found it! xo
Have a wonderful time! I’m looking forward to your inspiring events!
Am I the only one who had to look up LYLAS?!?!? I just had to know, which unfortunately reminds me of something else I read. “I have CDO. It’s like OCD, but in alphabetical order. The way they should be.”
I love this community! you remind me to play.
such beautiful babies, they are so cute! i have two babies the same age as it looks like your babies were here, and although they make me tear my hair out at least 15 times per day, they are so sweet, and cute and adorable, and i love their chuby cheeks and padded waddling tushies, and the funny things they say. I do not love the idea of Motherhood or Pregnancy or all the ick that comes with it. But i do love my children. i’m so lucky to have had them!
I was just getting caught up on a little reading, and all I can say is…….I. am. so. glad. you. are. on. vacation. Wow! I have been reading for a little while now, but don’t comment a lot. I LOVE your wit, your writing and your HONESTY!! I’m sorry that some of your posts were under fire lately and I hope that time away with your family is rejuvenating and wonderful. Keep writing and being you- your blog is popular because what you say resonates with people. It is why I come back to read. Thank you for being you.
Hey, good job really not getting online! It has been five days — I totally expected to hear from you after one or two.
Your family is beautiful and your story is SO inspiring! Thank you for being honest and sharing that with everyone, because it is AWESOME! Hope you and your family have an amazing vacation!
Enjoy the rest and unexpected surprises of random beauty. Wishing you the bonding of family, sensual moments with hubby, and sublime happiness in every moment of your much deserved vacation!
I’m pretty sure the scholarship will be for the sprinkles that she extrudes … I would think it is a UNIQUE talent.
I laugh about that one every time I see glitter.

Have an AMAZING time with the fam!! LOVE that Tish…so ABSOLUTELY adorable!!
Soak it in!! You deserve it.
So many people will be thinking about you and sending loving energy your way, wonderful and crazy things are sure to happen! I think sometimes the best family vacation memories come from things that are completely unplanned and unexpected. Can’t wait to hear all about it!
A funny, unexpected family vacation story:
A couple of weeks ago, some friends of ours were driving our family on small, windy roads through rural France. It sounded like a beautiful idea, but before we made it to our first destination, all three of my kids got car sick and puked all over the place. Instead of memories of vineyards in the French countryside, I have memories of my son running around in his underwear by a French gas station.
We’ve laughed so much about that memory (once we got over the drama of the immediate situation!) Anyone else have one to share??
Hi Glennon!
It’s been a while since I’ve posted here, but just wanted to say that I will really, really miss you. SO. MUCH. I’ll prob still come here everyday for 2 wks in hopes that maybe you went to an internet cafe or something and wrote a post…bc I do that everyday anyway. I absolutely adore you. So much love, joy, happiness, and peace as you go off with your gorgeous fam. I love Tish. She sounds FUN.
Love love love you,
B
P.S. If you ever come to Chicago, can you let me know? (But I’m moving to NoCal in 2 months…so there too, k?)
Enjoy and relax! Love you!
“Perhaps an athletic scholarship for that one?” I laughed so hard I spit out my soda, lol Thanks, ENJOY yourselves!!!!
a-DOR-able children. Have an awesome, relaxing, love-filled vaca!
And yes, thank you for all you share.
OMG are those your kids in the picture? Look at those chubby baby legs! I love chubby baby legs! They are so cute…I just want to grab them and squeeze them. And of course, I wonder why chubby baby legs are so cute when they are babies but not when they are 40. No one grabs my legs anymore, blows bubbles on them and says, “these are so cute!” (Sigh.)
That is awesome. You can tell Tish, that I too, was born on my birthday! It’s like we’re kindred spirits.
Have a fantastic break!!!
wow that was too funny…luv it. enjoy your time away.
Hi, Glennon. I just need to apologize because the other night I was at a mexican restaurant eating with my son and if you were scared at the stalkerish woman staring at you, that was me. It took me a minute to figure out why you looked familiar and then I was just stunned when I realized that, um, you’re a regular gal out with her kiddos. At the time I thought it would be weird to go up and say something like, “Hi, I love your blog and your writing is beautiful.” So instead I just sat there poking myself in the eye with my chips and getting guacamole all over my face, until my 7 year old handed me a napkin…not weird at all
So I am breathing now and I’ll just say what I should have said: Your writing is amazing, your blog is an inspiration…please continue with your evening without a creepy girl with food on her face staring at you.” Have a wonderful stalker-free vacation!
I would have done the same thing! I wonder how many real stalkers G does have??
Jenn! CAL TORT KIDS EAT FREE NIGHT? Right?
That evening..I was walking to the car and some beautiful lady touched my arm, looked right in my eyes, said “Thank You” and kept walking.
I just stood there stunned. I was really amazing, I had goose bumps.
Then on the way home I started worrying that maybe she was just thanking me for picking up the extra trash on the ground, cause I always feel compelled to do that. I don’t think so though. I think she was thanking me, truly and deeply, for my writing. Right there in the parking lot. I was happy.
G
Yes! CalTort! Wish I was that beautiful lady who thought to say thank you, but I wasn’t…the only things I had going for me were that my top was green and white so the guacamole matched it perfectly and I’m pretty sure I got all my trash into the trash can or at least my kid did, Glad someone had the presence of mind to show you grace…you clearly deserve many thanks from many people.
What an amazing time to be shared by all
Just take time to breath and fully take in all the little things that often pass us by….wishing you all safe travels
Enjoy !! XX
That was hilarious moment with Tish! Thanks for sharing! My littles have their moments of “clarity” too! LOL!!! Hope you have a wonderful VaCa!
Enjoy!
This post made me smile. The picture. The happiness exuding from your “voice.” The knowledge that the next two weeks will be filled with so much laughter and much needed family time. Enjoy every moment!!
I read a quote once: “A vacation frequently means that the family goes away for a rest, accompanied by mother, who sees that the others get it” – Marclene Cox
Here’s to hoping you defy the odds…
Enjoy your two weeks and don’t forget to be good to yourself. Hope grandparents are going along to help with the kiddos.
oh my goodness, is that my space cadet daughter or yours???
Have a GREAT time! I am inspired to leave my computer home, too, when we vaca later in the summer! Thanks for that! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! And so tish was having a blonde moment… we’re all entitled!
Omgosh two weeks with no G???!!! Big SIGH. Have fun with the fam…whimper whimper. We’ll sure miss you!! But can’t wait for the hilarity to ensue when you return. Hope its fabulous! LYLAS
Have a wonderful time on vacation – as a newcomer to the site, I have some catching up to do – but I’ll look forward to updates when you return!
It take me four months, but I did it, so you can do it too ! ;o)
Happy vacation time, Glennon, take care of yourself, we will be here when you come back home. (Just seen myself like a cat waiting inside of the window, looking outside…)
It TOOK, of course…
I LOVE the pic posted about….a mini Craig and mini Glennon!!
Happy Vaca-ing!

G,
I hope you have a wonderful vacation full of sunshine and happy kid giggles, lots of snuggle time and love! You need this time to reflect and rest all of the monkees will take care of each other you just take care of you! Love you!
TOTALLY giggling at Krystal’s comment, the use of “you’re so pretty” !!!
I love the little wedgie on Tish in the picture. My daughter’s little butt looks like that too in her bathing suit. So adorable!
When my oldest daughter was young, the family of one of her friends experienced a miscarriage. She heard about it at school and wanted to know what it all meant. I carefully tried to explain it in terms that she might understand, but without too much detail. After several questions, I answered one by explaining that it had even happened to me once. She responded: “With me?” Believe it or not, she DID later get an academic scholoarship!
Have a wonderful vacation!!! Can’t wait to hear from you when you get back. Soak ‘em up!
wow only 9 comments! that sounds like fun! cant wait until you get back! we will miss you so much, g!
Have a great holiday! I love the birthday revelation! My daughter, at 3, was stunned to discover that one of her grandma’s is related to me and the other is related to her dad — what a conicidence!
Also? FIRST!! LOL (I don’t think I’ve EVER been first to comment on anything, esp a blog as popular as yours!
damn…. they post backwards.
Thanks for the LOL, CaroleJ!
CAROLEJ, You gave me a giggle! Thanks, gfriend. G-have a relaxing vaca and recharge. We will leave a light on for you, mama monkee! <3 you!
“Born on my BIRTHDAY!” HAha! Love it!
Also, cutest pic ever at the top!
Enjoy your rest & love on your family <3
I applaud your optimism that a family trip will have anything like “rest” in it. Fun, yes. Memories, sure. Rest? Well, here’s hoping…
Have a wonderful vacation!!
well, you have to admit- that IS a huge coincidence…
Enjoy your much deserved vacation!
My 16 year old, Kendall, is damn near perfect, but she says the air-headedest things sometimes. When she does that we say “you’re so pretty”. I think it’s a true testament to our family that “you’re so pretty” is an insult. I think tish had a very pretty moment there.
Enjoy your rest g-dogg. I hope it’s the best.
Your Tish sounds adorable!! Have a wonderful family vacation time together. Make lots of great memories! Enjoy!!
